Burwood Medical is committed and passionate about your health care. 

 

Every member of our team, across all departments, plays a vital role in the quality and health of our patients.  Each of them understands the importance of this process to you, whether simply collecting blood samples or sharing the joy of a phone-call to confirm your appointment.

Through working exclusively in the field of health care, our staff have gained much experience and wisdom.  While staying at the forefront of technology and technique through ongoing investment in research and development, our staff also undergo regular training to stay current with the world’s best practice in all areas of the medical field. 

 

Dr Van Mai 
MB. BS (Syd) FRACGP

Dr. Mai graduated from Sydney University in 1992 and has been working in general practice for about 20 years. He has a Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRCGP) and is a general practice supervisor for training registrars. Dr. Mai is a very experienced GP and is accredited for Antenatal Shared Care with the hospitals in Central Sydney and Inner West.

Special Interests: General Practice, Antenatal Shared Care, Chronic Disease Management, particularly Diabetes, Skin Cancers and especially Minor Surgical Procedures.

Dr Trang Le

MB.BS. FRACGP, Dip. Child Health

Dr Le is a fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP).  She has been in general practice since 2006. She has worked in the South Western area in the past. She enjoys general practice as it gives her the opportunity to interact with patients of all ages and cultural backgrounds. She is accredited for Antenatal Shared Care with the hospital in South Western area. She is available for consultation on Monday Thursday and Saturday mornings.

Special Interests:  General Practice, Women's Health, child and adolescent development, Antenatal Shared Care, chronic disease management and disease prevention.

Lili Dai

Dietician

Li Li is an Accredited Practising Dietitian (member of the Dietician’s Association of Australia). She has a Bachelor of Medical Science Degree, a Master of Nutrition and Dietetics Degree. Li Li has experiences in a wide range of sectors, including the hospital; community; state government; aged care facilities as well as medical centres.
 
Li Li is specialising in Chronic Disease Management which includes Diabetes, Hypertension and Hyperlipidaemia. Other areas of proficiency include Weight Management, Malnutrition, Aged Care, Pregnancy nutrition, Paediatric nutrition, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Coeliac Disease and Food Intolerences. She will guide and assist you to achieve your healthy lifestyle or specific health related goals according to your medical and psycho-social needs. Li Li understands the dietary and cultural needs from different cultural backgrounds from her past working experiences.
 
You will be eligible for Medicare cover if you have a EPC referral for dietitian visits from your GP, or you may be eligible for your private health funds rebate (please check it with your health funds provider).

Melda Nazenin

Psychologist

Melda can provide services in child & adolescents – Behaviour management; anxiety including stress, worry and phobias; depression; school issues; anger management, bullying, social skills/self-esteem, pervasive developmental disorders including autism & asperger’s syndrome and adjustment disorders.  
 
Melda can also provide services to adults – depression; anxiety disorders including PTSD, acute stress disorder, generalised anxiety and specific phobias; adjustment disorders; stress management; trauma & abuse; anger management; assertiveness & communication skills; self-esteem; work place issues including bullying; workers compensation (NSW WorkCover); relationship difficulties, grief and loss.
 

 

Treatment modalities include: applied behaviour analysis; Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) including exposure therapy; supportive counselling; psycho-education; problem solving; solution focused brief therapy; motivational interviewing; narrative therapy; creative therapies including play and art therapy; skills training such as behaviour management and parent training; and relaxation techniques and strategies.
